Tour guides remuneration has been increases

Nepal Independent Tourism Workers’ Guild (NITWOG) has been fighting since a long time ago with Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) for the workers remuneration increase including Joint tourism trade unions forum (JOTTUF) .

According to JOTTUF after several meetings, Agreement has been made between Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) and Joint Tourism Trade Unions’ Forum (JOTTUF) on 24 March 2023 including Nepal Independent Tourism Workers’ Guild (NITWOG). The following minimum rate of remuneration of Tour Guide has been accepted with effect from 17th July 2023.

Remuneration for English Language tour guides 1 to 2 guest Rs. 3080, 3 to 6 guest Rs 3930, 7 to 12 guest Rs 4260 ,13 to 20 guest Rs 4580 & above  the 20 guest Rs 4980. Similarly other language tour guides  are 1 to 2 guest Rs. 3700, 3 to 6 guest Rs 4700, 7 to 12 guest Rs 5100 ,13 to 20 guest Rs 5500 &  above the 20 guest Rs 5900.

Overnight allowance shall be NPR 3440/- regardless of No. of guest, language and accommodation. Mountain flight, arrival, departure transfer, accompanying the cultural program or dinner shall be Rs 1540. The rate for all abroad trips shall be NPR 11,790/- exclusive of all accommodations.

Labour Act and Regulations are applicable. Social Security Fund (SSF) is applicable as per the Contribution-Based Social Security Act. NATTA and Trade Unions publish and circulate this agreement to the members and follow strictly. The remuneration shall normally be increased biennially by Collective bargaining Agreement (CBA) as per Labour Act, inflation and the government rules.
